As part of the new initiative, our customer has embarked on digitalisation of their engineering landscape, which includes integration of both technical and administrative work processes along the product life cycle. The digitalisation will focus on improving the engineering methods and processes with a view to drive productivity improvement and improve responsiveness to both market & consumer demands. The primary objective is to develop the future programmes at half time and half cost by eliminating certain steps of the multidisciplinary engineering processes or at the least enhance them to improve efficiency, in addition to ensuring engineering activity can be supported seamlessly across partners The technical aspects will be about integration of the authoring systems along the life cycle phases; requirements management, system architecture, CAD/CAE in mechanics, electronics, software development, simulation, testing, process planning and digital factory into the overall Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) backbone. The administrative aspects will focus on release, change and configuration management over the entire product life cycle and the technical integration of the information generated in the individual product lifecycle phases. The distribution and sharing of this data between various functions through PLM as the back- bone will be of particular interest here. The compilation of relevant processes and technologies to implement PLM solution in this landscape will help in realising these Digitalisation goals. A digital model-based approach will be adopted for system/sub-system and component engineering. This will help embed large amounts of technical information and details into these digital models. During their use in downstream activities, product data can be fed back into digital models creating a digital thread and providing valuable insight and mature existing designs. These digital models supported by an information/data system will create the through-life digital architecture assisting in realising designs through Model Based Engineering (MBE). Further, by creating these virtual replicas of the systems and processes, teams could explore and optimise the design space before kick starting the physical development. These digital models, methods and processes will need to be adopted to the needs of various systems within the customers upcoming projects. They will need to assist the project teams to efficiently explore the design space and digital arena where engineers should be able to arrive at potential solutions that meet requirements and offer an initial sense check in terms of quality, cost, and performance. The utilisation of these Digital artefacts should reduce the level of uncertainty at the design/development/manufacturing/service stages of product lifecycle, further reducing the iterative loops at these stages. This enterprise approach will also enable in targeting the areas requiring detailed analysis ultimately minimising the need for downstream activities such as physical testing, production and service changes. Approach and initial scope of work as follows: Quest Global will embed a team of highly experienced SQEPs who will work alongside the customer team to Gain detailed knowledge and understanding of the Digital Engineering initiative within the customers ecosystem Provide thought leadership and help formulate and accelerate capability development Engage with customers to reach a joint understanding of the requirement through detailed technical discussions resulting in a Blueprint for the future being defined. The current customers projects will be used to develop the blueprint Following definition and agreement on this blueprint, Customer and Quest Global will agree areas to be jointly developed going forward. Quest Global will scale the team to resource the agreed areas, this team will work side by side with Customer, delivering both the Ecosystem and supporting the adoption of the new Ecosystem in new product lifecycle developments. As the Ecosystem develops and is used in new product lifecycle development, Quest Global will be able to provide additional SQEP expertise capable of operating in the new development environment to augment the Customer team across product development, Testing, Manufacturing and Through Life Support Role

Overview: What youll be doing: Defining and carrying out engineering tasks within your span of control for you and any subordinate Design Engineers under your control, performing tasks to cost and on time to meet requirements and business needs. Ensuring the technical content of the work, including deliverables, is acceptable to your operational engineering manager and functional manager utilising the most efficient engineering methods available. Confirming all work is compatible with the departmental quality policy and that departmental procedures are followed. Agreeing your work plan with your operational engineering manager and deploying design engineering methods, processes and data for activities within your span of control. Ensuring effective interactions with customers, colleagues and others, to promote the best interests of the team, department and company. Providing efficiency and effectiveness suggestions for the development of design engineering toolsets and processes within the Design Engineering discipline. Your skills and experiences: An engineering related degree, HND or HNC combined with demonstrated experience of working within an Airframe related discipline preferably within Defence Design Engineering Demonstrated experience of Design Engineering within the aerospace industry is essential,experience of managing design tasks to meet design review criteria and programme schedules. Experience in high level model based digital engineering, exploiting the digital thread through deployment of a technical global integrator. Expertise in the areas of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), PLM Architecture and Airframe Design. Expertise in MBSE and PLM Architecture such that modelling, simulation, development and validation tools can be embedded in a configured PLM environment. Experience in deploying an integrated development ecosystem including the definition of the Digital Thread design rules associated with adopting such an environment. This will ensure that the relevant design aspects are captured in metadata which can be exploited in the Design, Validation, Procurement, Manufacture and Through Life Support of products Ability to apply engineering principles to problem solving in the Product Design domain and a logical approach to task management Experience of developing mechanical and structural design concepts, producing design specifications, preliminary and detail design drawings, and models, and writing reports Previous experience of technical checking and approving is preferable Proficiency in CAD and experience in a PDM system The Airframe Design Team: An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for Senior Airframe Design Engineers to join the Engineering team at the Preston site. The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the design and development programmes, across multiple platforms including current and next generation Future Combat Air Systems. As a Senior Airframe Lead, you will be working with other Design Engineers to direct your own work and those of your team to support the overall programme deliverables. You will interact with structures engineers, systems engineers, aerodynamicists, materials/ standards, and manufacturing engineers.
