Job Purpose

The Head of Commercial will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies that accelerate growth and income for the company through various partnership offerings. This role involves conducting market research, leading the commercial team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality service to all partners.

Main Responsibilities and Key Activities

  • Create and develop a commercial strategy that integrates multiple partnership offerings into a cohesive proposition.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify and exploit commercial opportunities (e.g., expansion, business development).
  • Manage and drive partnership sales activities to meet company goals and objectives, aiming to accelerate growth and income.
  • Ensure high standards of business development by regularly reviewing and updating the acquisition plan across all partner categories.
  • Ensure high levels of engagement with all partners, delivering agreed benefits consistently and maintaining quality service levels.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams (marketing, inward investment, tourism, etc.) to ensure effective coordination.
  • Monitor the performance of commercial activities using key metrics.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to senior management.
  • Work with the Finance and Commercial Director to set targets and budgets for the Commercial Partnerships.
  • Lead and inspire the commercial team, setting clear direction and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of continuous personal development, ensuring high performance and motivation.

The Person:

  • Proven experience as a commercial director/head of commercial or in a relevant role.
  • Proven experience in sales and/or marketing, managing relationships with key partners.
  • In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development is desirable.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, self-motivated, and deadline-driven.
  • Used to working in different markets with commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • A focus on developing others with a coaching and mentoring approach and a creative mindset are desirable.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven track record of securing six-figure sum corporate partnerships.
  • Experience in developing complex corporate partnerships with multiple budgets, deliverables, and key contacts.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and pitching skills.
  • Strong networker and influencer with a passion for building partner relationships at all levels.
  • Experience of working in a public/private sector environment is desirable.
