The Role:

As a Junior Publishing Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in our team of specialists within the Self and Independent Publishing industry. This varied and evolving position includes:

  • Typesetting books.
  • Liaising with editors, authors, illustrators, and studio team members to organise workflows and ensure efficient communication.
  • Handling editorial administration and coordinating the exchange of information between all parties.
  • Opportunities to develop and utilise design and multimedia skills, including eBook development, and social media marketing.
  • Innovating within the independent publishing sphere.

What We’re Looking For:

  • High proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Strong understanding of general IT principles, including Mac OS.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign (knowledge of Photoshop or other Adobe applications is a plus).
  • A love for books and literature.
  • A proactive attitude with a keen interest in developing and growing the role as our team expands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently use InDesign; familiarity with creating eBooks, uploading files to Kindle/Amazon, managing Print On Demand (POD) processes, and handling ISBNs and barcodes.
  • Facilitate the transfer of digital assets (eBook files, print files) between Spiffing Publishing, our clients, and suppliers.
  • Learn and utilise our 'AT’ software, an integral administration tool for all active accounts.
  • Engage in opportunities to learn and develop design skills, as the core nature of our business is design-led.

What We Offer:

  • Full-time position based in Wivenhoe, Essex.
  • Five-day working week (Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.30pm) with a 1-hour lunch break.
