Permanent, full time

We are a multidisciplinary Architectural Practice specialising to the Commercial, Industrial, Manufacturing and Logistic sectors. 

Due to consistent growth within J Knight Design, we have a new opportunity for an Architectural Technologist to join our design team. With our ongoing projects and schemes set to start, you will be involved in Commercial, Food & Logistic sectors from the outset.

The successful individual will be working closely with our team in the design & drawing process of our projects. You will be producing detailed drawings using CAD software and ensuring that the technical aspects of the projects are feasible and meet all relevant regulations and standards. In this role it is essential that you have a strong attention to detail, technical skills, problem solving abilities and be able to deliver clear, accurate drawings, understand RIBA stages & assist in project management with our senior technologists.

Architectural Technologist Position Overview

  • Working on a range of interesting projects simultaneously within the Commercial & Industrial Sectors
  • Producing detailed designs/ drawings
  • Delivering on projects in accordance with the RIBA stages
  • Collaborating closely & presenting ideas within the design team
  • Assisting the senior team with project meetings & surveying

Key Responsibilities

  •  Develop detailed design & technical drawings using CAD software
  • Communicate with engineers & other project leads to ensure timelines & specifications are met.
  •  Conduct site visits & surveys to gather accurate data for project developments
  •  Assist in project management, including the coordination of schedules & resources
  •  Provide technical support & expertise throughout project lifecycles.
  • Understand relevant UK regulations and standards to ensure compliance
  •  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously & meet deadlines.

Must haves

  • Relevant degree qualification or 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge using Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit software
  • Fundamental knowledge of Building Regulations 

Nice to haves

  • Passion for design with a keen interest in Commercial Design
  • Have attention to detail and strong technical skills
  • Experience using Revit
  • Socially open to a collaborative team environment
