Our mission is to help our clients, and hence society as whole, meet their evolving energy and infrastructure needs in a safe, sustainable, and ethical way. Our people are high calibre and motivated professionals, with a clear focus on meeting clients expectations.

We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic nuclear safety engineers with at least three years experience to join our Bristol team supporting key clients in the southwest. The successful candidates will support the delivery of technical engineering, safety case and project management to a number of major projects within the nuclear power generation sector. The main scope of work will be nuclear safety related tasks for Hinkley Point C supporting the progression of the site from construction into commissioning and operation.

Role Description and Responsibilities
This role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting, dynamic, and rapidly growing nuclear team across the south of England embedded with a key client. Typical responsibilities may include:
  • Generating key nuclear safety operating documentation.
  • Supporting nuclear safety related commissioning documentation.
  • Leading the delivery of major safety cases.
  • Providing specialist technical input and advice to resolve complex problems.
  • Production of formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
  • Management of projects, project teams and interfacing with clients.

The role also provides the potential to support other Risktec sectors such as oil and gas, clean energy, transport, defence, and conventional power in the future.

Within Risktecs wider portfolio of work in the nuclear field across southern England, there could also be opportunities to work on safety cases for major plant modifications at Sizewell B, system engineering at Hinkley Point B, safety case documentation for SMR Generic Design Assessments, large safety cases managed by EDF Design Authority, and Safety Case production for Sizewell C.

  • Implementation of modifications to plant, including:
    • Undertaking plant obsolescence assessments.
    • Reviewing design proposals and producing design substantiation reports.
    • Authoring testing and commissioning strategies and functional test procedures.
  • Support to plant operability, including:
    • Supporting equipment reliability reviews, including plant walk downs.
    • Reviewing maintenance routines/strategy.

  • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical and logical skills.
  • Based in the Bridgwater area.

Additionally, this opportunity has high visibility and profile so we require an enthusiastic, confident individual who we would be proud to represent Risktec in front of our clients.
Benefits package
A competitive package of salary and benefits is offered for permanent staff, including:
  • Car allowance (dependent on grade).
  • Profit share.
  • Company pension contributions.
  • Private medical insurance.

  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • Sustainable benefits such as salary sacrifice electric vehicles and cycle to work schemes.
  • Training and development:
    • Access to certified CPD courses and a university postgraduate education programme, delivered in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, including the opportunity to enrol on the MSc in Risk and Safety Management.
    • Support to individuals working towards Chartership.

Additional Information

Whilst flexible and hybrid working arrangements can be agreed, a large proportion of time should be spent on site to benefit the candidates development and technical understanding alongside building relationship with key stakeholders.
