Overview:

Our client’s Accounts team is part of the Business Support Group (BSG), which provides operational support to the firm. The Accounts team, led by the Finance Director, is divided into specialist teams including management accounting, legal cashiering, purchase ledger, credit control, and criminal costs. This role is in the legal cashiering team, reporting to the Head Cashier.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to Solicitors Accounts Rules and practices, providing advice as needed.
  • Process received monies, including cheques and direct payments.
  • Handle CHAPS, BACS, and faster payments via online banking.
  • Conduct daily bank reconciliations.
  • Process petty cash payments and expenses.
  • Address telephone and personal queries, and other duties within the accounts team.
  • Administer investment funds, process interest, and manage related statements.
  • Assist with month-end procedures.
  • Check and write back out-of-date cheques.
  • Manage daily paperwork and filing.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties for smooth Accounts team operations.


Essential:

  • Minimum of 12 months of cashier experience in a professional services accounts environment; legal services exposure is advantageous.
  • Good GCSE passes in Maths and English; further education or accounting qualifications are advantageous.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Systems-oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexibly with high volumes and tight deadlines.
