Assystem Energy & Infrastructureare recruiting for a Radioactive Waste Operatorto work at our customers site inDerbyon a contract basis.
In this role, you will be a key member of the manufacturing teams to support safe and efficient operation of the Waste Disposal areas and its associated processes.
Role details:
- Job title: Radioactive Waste Operator
- Contract length: 12 months
- Location: Derby
- Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Carry out processing operations according to instructions and company standards and reports deficiencies with the instructions; monitor the processing operation and identify and reports any problems that occur
- Use problem solving and business improvement techniques to ensure waste is managed efficiently to allow continued operations; contribute to the continuous improvement of waste processes ensuring optimum performance
- Quality-check your own work and ensure you meet set specifications and comply to the environmental permit
- Maintain equipment and measuring tools and ensure these are in calibration.
Experience:
- Experience working in a contamination controlled area would be desired and experience in waste management preferred.
- Awareness of the importance of sustaining and contributing to a strong safety culture
- Secondary school qualification (GCSE or equivalent English & Maths)
- Ability to support the writing of method statements and risk assessments for abnormal tasks
- A basic understanding of the Environment Agency permitting is preferred although a willingness to develop this knowledge is essential.
**Security clearance**
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a minimum of a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
