The Registered General Nurse (RGN) in a Nursing Home setting plays a critical role in providing compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to residents. They are responsible for assessing residents' health needs, developing care plans, and delivering personalized care to ensure their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Resident Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs upon admission and regularly thereafter. Develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure holistic care delivery.
  2. Nursing Care: Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by healthcare providers. Monitor residents' health status, including vital signs, wound healing, and nutritional intake, and promptly address any changes or concerns.
  3. Care Planning: Develop and review care plans in consultation with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring that care interventions are tailored to meet residents' preferences, goals, and clinical needs.
  4. Personal Care Assistance: Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support, while promoting independence and dignity.
  5. Health Promotion: Educate residents and their families about preventive health measures, chronic disease management, and self-care techniques to enhance overall well-being and quality of life.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, care plans, interventions, and resident responses in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
  7. Communication: Communicate effectively with residents, families, caregivers, and team members to ensure continuity of care, address concerns, and promote positive relationships within the care community.
  8. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to infection control protocols, medication administration guidelines, and safety regulations to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for residents and staff.
  9. Quality Improvement: Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits, and clinical reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement evidence-based practices to enhance resident care outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Valid NMC pin
  • Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Compassionate demeanor and ability to provide person-centered care.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining resident confidentiality.
