Principal Systems Engineering Lead

My client, a leading engineering solutions provider, is seeking three Principal Systems Engineering Leads. These roles involve managing specialist capabilities, delivering advanced solutions in challenging environments, and ensuring compliance with both project and statutory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Systems Engineering discipline for assigned projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery.
  • Support the Engineering Project Lead (EPL) in meeting engineering objectives, and assume delegated EPL responsibilities for systems work packages.
  • Develop technical solutions for large and complex engineering problems, adhering to Systems Engineering processes to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Create and oversee Systems Engineering artifacts throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical direction across multiple project work packages, ensuring optimal architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Collaborate with system, hardware, firmware, and software architects to ensure consistency and technical excellence.
  • Plan, coordinate, and present at design reviews, engaging senior management and customers.
  • Manage customer and supplier relationships to ensure process compliance and project success.
  • Develop technical proposals and provide accurate estimates for bids and proposals.
  • Lead, manage, and report on project aspects to balance requirements, schedule, and cost.
  • Review and sign off on significant technical documents and support technical reviews.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure information security compliance.
  • Support recruitment, early career development, and STEM engagement initiatives.
  • Develop and lead subject matter expertise in specific technical areas.
  • Perform line management duties, including coaching and developing direct reports.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent industry experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering, the V-Model, and associated processes.
  • Proven experience in developing high-quality requirements and systems design.
  • Technical and line management experience in systems engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in DOORS, UML, SEBoK, Enterprise Architect, and SysML.
  • Hands-on experience in hardware, software, or firmware development, particularly in embedded environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.

Desirable:

  • INCOSE recognition (ASEP or CSEP).
  • Expertise in a technical subject matter, with the ability to develop new areas as required.
  • Eligibility for DV security clearance.
