The role is positioned as the custodian of the brand identity and will work with the Chief Marketing Officer on the strategic development and direction of both Company brand and Product brands.

It will manage the briefing process from across the business, manage the traffic and workflow of all creative briefs ensuring the work is prioritised, delegated effectively, whilst working at pace and to tight deadlines. A critical aspect of this role will be the development & maintenance of stakeholder relationships internally at all levels, and externally with freelancers and other marketing agency partners.

In addition to the managerial responsibilities, the Brand & Creative Studio Manager needs to have a hands-on approach and possess the necessary design software skillset to support this.

Job Description

Creative Lead

  • Support the CMO in developing the overall Brand Strategy for the business and translate it into creative execution for both Company brands & development of the brand guidelines & design systems and own-label product brands
  • Carry out design work for key strategic projects at a more conceptual stage before delegating to the team
  • Application of brand guidelines across all marketing channels & assets including internal communications
  • Expert knowledge of graphic design principles and software applications (such as Adobe Creative Suite) to personally contribute to the creation of visual assets
  • Art direction and final proofing of all studio jobs, ensuring quality control
  • In collaboration with the Content team, support with Art Direction specifically on imagery and video content
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders across the business to ensure high quality briefs received at all times
  • With key creative agencies to ensure brand consistency in all projects

Team

  • The JIRA workflow system & delegate task
  • Developing a team of 3 in-house designers & external freelancers with a willingness to be hands on where necessary
  • Appointing the correct resource to each specific role to ensure job satisfaction & development for team members
  • There is resource available to cope with all unforeseen work

Budgets

  • Managing and forecasting budgets for creative resource (freelancers) and any ancillary requirements
  • Raising PO’s in relation to any spend required

Key Skills

Management

  • Operated at a senior level in a similar position for a minimum of 3-5 years
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a creative team
  • About creativity, can support the wider team with ideas and creative solutions.
  • Stakeholder management and ability to build strong relationships across the business
  • Verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and articulate design concepts and ideas.
  • Friendly and approachable
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Adaptable to changing workloads and priorities

Brand creative & design

  • Design experience in a retail business essential, whilst agency experience also highly desirable
  • Passion for the category (home furnishings) highly desirable
  • Design portfolio showcasing a wide range of creative projects and styles
  • Knowledge and best practise of design process across marketing channels
  • Application of latest design and prototyping software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma/Sketch essential)
  • Passion for creativity and actively supports the broader team by offering innovative ideas and creative solutions
  • Understanding of design principles, typography, colour theory, and layout for both digital and print mediums including requirements for Point of Sale (POS) design
