Super new instruction for a Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel to join a thriving private equity backed international healthcare business in its UK legal team. Our client is Europe's leading independent provider of medical imaging services. It has seen huge growth and, following acquisition by a private equity business, has ambitious growth targets which this incoming lawyer will help support the business to deliver.
Our client is innovative - they at the forefront of development of services as a healthcare provider. It has sites nationwide and works in partnership with private and public healthcare providers to provide diagnostic services in communities, undertaking national screening programmes to aid in early diagnosis for patients.
An incredibly varied and interesting workload will include:
- commercial contracts: partnership and collaboration agreements, heads of terms, equipment hire, mobile contracts, screening contracts, IT and SaaS agreements, data protection
- procurement: this is a significant element of the role and will include supporting the business with new regimes
- property and construction: JCT, warranties, engagement of architects and engineers, development agreements and long term leases
- disputes: a discrete element of the role which might include complaints or managing external lawyers
- compliance: supporting a Quality & Risk team with reviewing and drafting policies
- training: unit manager teams across the country, advising on new legislation, best practice and training
The role would suit an existing in-house lawyer (or someone from a law firm who has had a secondment) who is experienced in or wants to gain experience of a fast paced environment with an opportunistic outlook and commercial risk appetite. Characteristics wise, it would suit someone who is a go-getter and ready to roll their sleeves up and get stuck into the business. It is a really great working environment, so someone who enjoys creating a rapport with others.
You will work closely with the Head of Legal and a more junior lawyer in the UK team as well as with other stakeholders across the business, such as the CFO and Operations / Commercial Directors.
This role has come about due to promotion of the previous Senior Legal Counsel and presents a great opportunity for someone to progress their career - either joining as a Legal Counsel with a view to progress to Senior Legal Counsel or someone already operating at Senior Legal Counsel level. It is a critical role within the team and for the business.
Our client is able to consider those who may not have all the experience listed above just yet. If you are a commercial contracts lawyer without regulated sector experience or construction, for example, there are others within the team who can pick up this work and you will have the opportunity to upskill with support.
It is likely that the successful candidate will already have in-house experience and upwards of 3 years' PQE.
