Role Overview:

Our client, a newly established proprietary trading firm, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Derivatives Base Metals Trader to spearhead the creation and development of their metals trading desk. This is a unique chance to be a key player in shaping the future of a high-impact, high-reward trading operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Desk Leadership: Take the reins and establish a world-class base metals trading desk, setting the strategic direction and operational foundation.
  • Trading Execution: Leverage your deep market knowledge and trading acumen to execute profitable trades in the derivatives base metals market.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks to ensure the desk operates within defined parameters while maximizing returns.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities and stay ahead of market trends.
  • Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of top-tier traders and analysts as the desk expands.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with senior management to align the desk’s strategy with the firm’s overall vision and goals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in derivatives base metals trading, with a proven track record of profitability and strategic insight.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and scale a trading desk, with strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Market Expertise: In-depth understanding of the base metals market, including key drivers, trends, and regulatory considerations.
  • Analytical Skills: Sharp analytical mind with the ability to process complex data and make informed trading decisions under pressure.
