What you’ll do
We are looking for a Finance Assistant. Reporting directly to the Operations Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring our financial integrity by monitoring, processing and reporting on company financial transactions to ensure data accuracy.
Some of your responsibilities will be:
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of timesheets and processing of monthly sales invoicing and credit notes.
- Credit control - managing debt within the sales ledger, chasing up any outstanding invoices and maintaining creditor and debtor listings.
- Completing activities including purchase ledger processing, cash balance reporting, bank reconciliations, and employee expense processing.
- Upholding revenue integrity, overseeing invoicing and all revenue adjustments.
- Performing month-end journal postings accurately and finalising month- end figures for review.
- Handling HMRC reporting including VAT, PAYE, PSA and P11Ds.
- Supporting the wider finance team by maintaining a fixed asset register
- and processing pre-payments and accruals.
- Ensuring our PO system is working correctly, and payments are
- automated where possible.
- Executing payroll data processing.
- Preparing finance reports, contributing to board reporting, and engaging
- in finance department improvement projects.
- Responding to queries from customers, suppliers and employees in
- relation to issues such as billing, revenue, payroll and expenses.
- Supporting other ad hoc financial administration tasks.
Where you'll be
This is a hybrid role (2-3 days per week in the office) based from our Edinburgh site. More details will be provided during the interview process.
How you’ll grow
Success in this role could open doors to progression, potentially leading to promotion to the role of Assistant Accountant or Accountant. You'll also gain valuable experience across other financial and business functions.
What you’ll bring
- Prior experience of, or interest in, working in a finance team or other business administration role.
- Organised with an eye for detail.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously.
- Aptitude for learning systems and processes quickly.
- Experience with Netsuite or other similar financial system and Salesforce / Kimble would be beneficial but full training will be provided.
