South Staffs Water is seeking a dedicated and skilled Operational Technology (OT) Technician to join its dynamic team. The OT team plays a crucial role in ensuring our water is properly extracted, treated, distributed, and stored. They manage and maintain instrumentation, automation, and telemetry assets for our 1.7 million customers in the South Staffordshire and Cambridge regions.
The Role
• Conduct frontline response for breakdowns and execute scheduled works for both corrective and planned maintenance.• Report to the ICS Support Manager and ICS Technicians as needed.• Monitor and maintain operational technology (OT) assets such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs) responsible for water treatment and distribution systems performance.• Ensure all processes adhere to regulatory standards and operational guidelines.• Oversee that all activities are carried out safely and diligently, complying with health and safety regulations.• Provide regular feedback on issues before, during, and after activities.• Conduct online diagnostics on PLCs for fault.• Participate in a standby rotation, typically 1 week in 6.• Support the company's initiatives to enhance safety standards continuously.
What You'll Need
• Full Valid UK Driving License • A knowledge of Water Treatment Processes is desirable but not essential • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.• Confidence with proven interpersonal and communication skills • Good organisational skills and experience in a challenging workload subject to change at short notice.
