Responsibilities
Preparation of Regulatory cases from initial client enquiry call through to the signing of the CCL and then the preparation of cases including responsibility for all steps required to comply with the directives of departmental procedures and manuals and at all times ensuring that the standards of the office and case management manuals are maintained.
To attend upon and advise clients of the Firm in a professional and reliable manner, ensuring that all discussions, actions and advice given are documented and that the conduct of the matter is processed speedily and accurately.
Attending meetings with client, experts and Counsel as necessary in the performance of conducting matters.
Instructing Counsel where necessary and responsible for ensuring funds available for Counsel.
Instructing experts where necessary to provide their clinical views on the allegations brought by regulatory bodies.
Representing regulated clients at Interim Orders hearings, fitness to practise panel hearings and internal disciplinary hearings.
Advising and representing clients in relation to internal disciplinary investigations and hearings.
Advising regulated clients on appeal to the High Court in relation to decisions made by Regulatory Bodies.
Advising regulated clients in relation to Judicial Reviews.
Advising pre-registration professionals in relation to appeals of examination failures.
Advising university students in relation to university disciplinary investigations and hearings.
Ensuring all key dates, time recording, financial matters and correspondence are recorded on files, and that the necessary statutory, legal and Practice forms are completed correctly and accurately.
Responsibility for ensuring clients are, if relevant and appropriate, kept fully appraised of any developments on the matter and that any liabilities, i.e. costs, are clearly explained at the beginning and throughout the matter.
Briefing supervisor and where necessary other colleagues on all matters which are being dealt with or are in process.
Responsibility for ensuring that their knowledge of practice systems and the applicable law remains up to date and that the necessary training requirements are achieved.
Attendance and advising at Police Stations, taking instructions, liaising with clients and police officers, completion of all documentation.
Maintain confidentiality at all times in performance of duties.
