Our client is a world leading data provider and has operations in several global countries. Whilst currently part of a large global group, a new leadership team are in place to exit it to a stand-alone group. They are in a strong position financially and are highly profitable and expect to continue achieving excellent growth with the new investors. The recently appointed CFO is looking to source a Group Financial Controller, in a newly created role, to ensure the function is structured appropriately to support the exit. You will be leading a large well-resourced finance function located both in the UK, Europe and Asia and this is an exciting opportunity to truly effect change and transformation, be part of an imminent exit, and thereafter support the growth journey in conjunction with the new investors whilst working with an outstanding leadership team and highly experienced CFO. As your team are located both in the UK and overseas there would be some limited travel. Whilst some functions are office based, they are a flexible employer. You could base yourself in the London office and/or work remotely, however, there is a need to be in London periodically.


Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Management and development of finance team of 15
  • Build an entirely stand alone, best in class, mid-market function ahead of the planned exit
  • Take on and convert from group and external advisors Insurance, tax reporting, banking relationships, treasury repotting and management of the audit
  • Ensure all systems are fully carved out, rightsized and fit for purpose
  • Align finance structure globally driving efficiency - to meet broader business needs
  • Assist other functions to become standalone in terms of annual budgets and monthly forecasting
  • Convert shared resources into dedicated resource.
  • Oversee finance team ensuring all Financial and Management reporting is aligned to investor and management requirements
  • Undertake a full review of processes and controls ensuring fit for purpose
  • Development and maintenance of control, process and systems
  • Review of month end and reporting packs produced by the team
  • Management of Treasury, including cashflow forecasting
  • Ensure delivery of year end statutory accounts, management of external audit


Candidate requirements:

  • Strong academic track record, including university degree
  • You will be ACA qualified or equivalent
  • Gravitas and project management abilities to enact the restructuring plans
  • Leadership experience and ability to develop staff
  • Demonstrable ability to manage, review and improve day to day finance operations and processes
  • Excellent knowledge of global consolidations
  • Good basic knowledge of modern FinOps processes and controls (incl RTR, OTC, PTP)
  • Excellent experience of systems and their operation and development
  • Good grasp and experience of global tax, and use/control of outside expertise
