AppsAnywhere is an EdTech company making big waves in our industry, thanks to awesome products and a passion for our customers. Over the last 10 years, we’ve worked hard creating and developing the world’s first app store designed specifically for education – AppsAnywhere.
You will be joining our small AppsAnywhere product dev team, working on frontend (Vue.js) aspects of our stack and using your eye for great user interface design to help build the next generation of a product used all around the world to deliver an awesome experience to over 2.5 million students
As part of your professional development in this role, you will receive training on our backend stack (PHP) and grow your skills to become a full-stack developer over time, eventually working across both frontend and backend as part of a full-stack team.
The role will be hybrid with 2 days in our awesome Sherburn-in-Elmet office (which used to be a pub FYI - we have kept the bar for our regular social evenings/events) during normal office hours and 3 days remote.
As a Frontend Developer, you’ll be responsible for:
- Participating in the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing and deployment.
- Writing well-structured, efficient, and maintainable frontend applications using frameworks and libraries (e.g. Vue.js and the Vue ecosystem).
- Creating user-facing features using Vue for interactive web applications, optimising for different device types.
- Writing and maintaining unit and integration test suites (e.g. Jest, Vitest, Cypress).
- Collaborating with team members to brainstorm solutions, share knowledge, and contribute to technical discussions.
- Using design tools like Sketch to turn designs into working interactive interfaces.
To join our team, the following skills are required:
Essential
- 2+ years of experience building interactive frontend applications with Vue.js
- Solid understanding of web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience/projects demonstrating basic familiarity with PHP.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Understanding of RESTful API design and integration.
- Ability to take UI designs and make these into working interactive web application interfaces.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas and collaborate effectively with team members.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks, including working towards becoming a full-stack developer working on both frontend and backend (PHP) in the future.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a small team environment.
- Comfortable working in a Linux/macOS environment (e.g., terminal, bash).
Desirable
- Experience with PHP and PHP frameworks (Symfony, Laravel, Laminas/Mezzio).
- Working with OpenAPI specifications.
- Integration/Component testing (Cypress)
- Design sensibilities to help create attractive and intuitive user interfaces.
- Experience using design tools such as Sketch for creating UI/UX elements.
- Working as part of an Agile team (Scrum/Kanban).
- Using Jira for tracking work.
- Vue.js or similar relevant certifications.
