Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Junior Sous Chef at The Boat Country Inn, you will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency. You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring smooth service during both busy periods and quieter times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
  • Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared in accordance with established recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies to minimise waste and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards to create a safe working environment.
  • Assist in the development of new menu items and seasonal specials, incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible.
  • Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication and seamless service.
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace, including equipment maintenance and sanitation.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and a strong understanding of food preparation principles.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and delegate tasks.
  • A passion for food and a creative approach to menu development.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality in every dish.
