About the role

We are recruiting a Release Manager for the PIA Programme – on a 12 month FTC contract.

The role objective is to enable the deployment of initiatives to be planned in such a way as to maximize benefit to the organization whilst minimizing the impact on individual business units, sites or support functions, and driving sustainable change. This role focuses on ensuring smooth transition from delivery into deployment, whilst embedding an agile yet robust cadence for managing change.

Reporting to the Business Integration Lead, the Release Manager will be expected to: 

Key Responsibilities

Release Planning

  • Partner with the Value Stream, Tech and Change Leads (and their relevant project managers) to formulate a plan for delivery of Initiatives into our productive environments; the “Release Plan”

  • Cascade the published “Release Plan” to interested stakeholders, and establish a communications flow to keep stakeholders informed of progress against the plan

Release Governance

  • In partnership with the Business Integration Lead, establish a stage gate cadence for managing the progress of Initiatives from delivery into deployment.

  • Facilitate the relevant Stage Gate meetings, recording outcomes, actions and decisions as appropriate.

Go / No-Go & Cutover Tracking

  • In partnership with the Business Integration Lead, establish a framework for managing our go / no-go decision making in a comprehensive and controlled manner, with the focus being on minimizing impact to the business as we deploy change.

  • Track and report on progress with preparation for go-live.

  • Provide oversight to the cutover plans produced within the Value Streams and guide on best practice / expectations where necessary.

  • Track and report on progress with cutover activities.

Managing Risk

  • Identify and manage the interdependencies with other Initiatives running concurrently – whether Business or Tech led.

  • Evaluate the risks associated with release and work with the appropriate stakeholders to mitigate them to the most reasonable extent possible.

  • Escalate issues requiring senior-level input so they are resolved quickly and effectively.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate

  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations/problems using multiple sources of information (qualitative and quantitative).

  • Excellent written, verbal, and active listening skills.

  • Strong problem solving, root cause identification, and planning skills with the ability to think big picture as well as hold the detail.  

  • Ability to rapidly establish and maintain strong relationships at various levels of the organization.

  • Ability to influence others to drive progress toward a common vision or goal.

  • Able to consider different perspectives and use these to inform recommendations.

  • Adaptable mindset with a strong ability to work through ambiguity and priorities and adapt delivery approach in a changing environment.

  • Team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.

Preferred experience:

Experience working on complex initiatives that involve multiple change elements across people, policy, process, and technology preferred.
