About the Role

DP World Ports & Terminals UK have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement Manager to join us. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day to day procurement, improving, compliance and mitigating risk. With a key focus on business partnering, implementing category strategies, and local supplier management. Alongside this you will also have the ability to strategise, manage, engage and advise a complex stakeholder group, with a primary focus on optimising business efficiency, aligning processes and ensuring consistency across our UK Ports.

NOTE:

This role will be based at our Port in Southampton with remit to oversee our UK Ports & Terminal Procurement function, which also includes our large Port and Logistics Park in Essex (London Gateway). This role will require visibility and presence at both ports meaning a full UK driver’s license is essential.

How you will contribute

Stakeholder Engagement and Regional Expertise:
Being the expert in knowing the stakeholder group and identifying their business needs by being visible, accessible and acting as their trusted partner on a broad range of procurement topics.

Supplier Management and Contract Handling:
Managing supplier relationships and the contract approval process with the legal department and business stakeholders.
Making periodic visits to suppliers, performing risk assessments, onsite surveys, periodic supplier performance reviews, supplier development plans, and resolve any procurement-related invoice discrepancies.
Maintaining, re-evaluating, and developing robust risk management systems to promote appropriate competition and ensure suppliers' continuity.

Category Strategy and Improvement Initiatives:
Executive European category strategies across both sites.
Identifying business needs and collaborate with central category procurement to initiate, draft and implement improvements, innovation, solutions and category strategies.
Develop and implement local category strategies based on the central category strategy where applicable, participating and leading cross-functional local teams as appropriate.

Cost Management and Reduction Strategies:
Creating and implementing annual cost reduction strategies, including but not limited to: negotiate pricing ensuring the lowest price up-front, source new business per the approved commodity strategy, implement packaging and logistics improvements.

Operational Procurement:
Ensuring timely delivery of requirements (inventory, assets, and services) to agreed specifications.
Managing direct reports by providing daily feedback, guidance, and positive coaching.
Purchasing materials and services, parts, components, tooling, and categories of items as assigned, ensuring lowest total cost of acquisition is achieved.
Recording and analysing key procurement metrics.

What you will bring

A minimum of 5 years Procurement experience, directly or indirectly ideally within the Port, Oil & Gas, Chemical Process or Heavy Industrial/Plant Machinery industry.
Thorough understanding of software applications for purchasing such as IBM Maximo and Oracle Fusion.
Certified or actively seeking certification in National Purchasing Management Association, CIPS or similar (advantageous but not essential)
Ability to implement and execute central category strategy.
Experienced in dealing with stakeholders on a strategic level.
Able to challenge, collaborate, influence and convince stakeholders.
Ability to negotiate as an agent on the company’s behalf, ensuring the company is represented in the best possible way.
Ability to work well in cross-functional teams including internal and external customers, and suppliers.
Strong negotiating, interpersonal and analytical skills.
Fluent in the English language on a business level.
