Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be required to effectively control lifting/loading/unloading duties associated with Shipping, Returns, and Inventory activities in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Warehouse Specific procedures.
Role & Responsibilities

  • Allocate task roles and responsibilities offering clear, unambiguous instructions to all members of the appointed lifting team and be fully conversant with the duties of all the persons involved (When acting as Banksman).
  • Deliver task Toolbox Talk(s) prior to each new task (When acting as Banksman)
  • Ensure PPE is applicable to the task and utilised by the team (When acting as Banksman)
  • Supervise and perform Cargo Handling duties in accordance the OPITO Banksman Slinger standard and those described in the OGUK Best Practice for the Safe Packing and Handling of Cargo to and from Offshore Locations (When acting as Banksman).
  • Conduct 360-degree visual inspection of all Loads for Damage / signs of Overloading and potential Dropped Objects
  • Confirm accuracy of CCU ID numbers against manifests / paperwork
  • Regularly read and understand procedures.
  • Review and/or comply with work aids and risk assessment control measures.
  • Liaise with Chargehand (Base Foreman in absence of Chargehand) and communicate any problems or delays associated with cargo handling operations.
  • To contribute and raise safety observations.
  • Actively ensure high house housekeeping standards are maintained in the yard.
  • Follow documented Lifting Plans
  • Operate Overhead Travelling Crane
  • Conduct other duties as required in support of the Shipping, Returns and Inventory Team
