Area Sales Manager

Role Overview:
The Area Sales Representative will be responsible for driving sales growth within a designated geographic area, with a particular focus on piping systems, mechanical fittings, and valves. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the water and gas industry, preferably with experience working with distributors. A background as an ex-service engineer within the water or gas safety field would be desirable, as would a mechanical engineering background.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategic sales plan to achieve sales targets within the assigned territory.
- Identify and prospect new business opportunities, focusing on key customers, contractors, and distributors involved in the water and gas industry.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and distributors, providing exceptional customer service and support.
- Conduct product presentations and demonstrations to customers, highlighting the features, benefits, and technical specifications of piping systems, mechanical fittings, and valves.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers, offering solutions to meet their specific needs and requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, product development, and marketing, to ensure effective communication and seamless delivery of customer solutions.
- Gather market intelligence, staying updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to continuously improve products and optimise sales strategies.
- Prepare sales forecasts, track sales performance, and provide regular reports to management, outlining progress against goals and identifying areas for improvement.
- Attend trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events to promote products, establish new connections, and enhance brand visibility.
Requirements:
- Proven sales experience in the water and gas industry, preferably with a focus on piping systems, mechanical fittings, and valves.
- Strong technical knowledge of piping systems, mechanical fittings, and valves in the water and gas industry.
- Experience working with distributors and effectively managing channel partnerships.
- Background as an ex-service engineer within the water or gas safety field would be desirable.
- Mechanical engineering background would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Results-driven attitude, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
