Technical Manager

As we expand, we are looking for a Technical Manager to lead our technical team and help shape the future of our growing business.

The Role:

As Technical Manager , you will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of safety, legality, and quality. You will oversee food safety systems, regulatory compliance, and customer requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the business. You will play a key role in building and developing systems and teams to support the company's rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the technical function, ensuring full compliance with UK food safety legislation, retailer standards, and industry regulations.
• Manage and maintain the company's food safety and quality management systems (GFSI, HACCP, etc.).
• Act as the main point of contact for external audits, customer visits, and regulatory inspections.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain and enhance product quality.
• Work closely with production, operations, and NPD teams to ensure seamless delivery of high-quality products.
• Investigate and resolve quality and safety issues, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
• Lead and mentor the technical team, providing training and support to ensure ongoing development.
• Liaise with suppliers to ensure raw materials meet required specifications.
• Monitor and analyse quality data, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the development and scaling of technical systems and teams to align with business growth.
• Work collaboratively with all departments, contributing to a positive and solution-focused workplace culture.

About You:

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Technical Manager with a strong background in food manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have:

• A degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in a technical or quality management role within the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of UK food safety regulations, BRCGS standards, and HACCP principles.
• Experience working with major UK retailers and their technical requirements.
• A background in allergy-free, ambient-stable, and sauce manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Experience managing audits and working with regulatory bodies.
• Knowledge of building and developing systems and teams in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
• A team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work collaboratively and contribute positively to a dynamic start-up culture.
