Our client is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join its highways and structures team on a permanent basis, supporting the safe and efficient management of highway bridge assets across the Midlands. This role can be based from either the Birmingham or Nottingham office and will provide technical leadership across structural assessments, CS 451 reviews and the management of substandard structures.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate structural assessments, CS 451 reviews and associated resources to support the safe and serviceable condition of highway structuresUndertake high-priority and urgent structural assessments within demanding timescales, identifying structural risks and requirements for interim measuresComplete high-priority CS 451 reviews to determine the need and priority for further assessments and temporary measuresProduce CS 470 interim measures documentation, obtain the necessary approval and manage implementationIdentify and prepare briefs for survey works supporting structural assessments and review activitiesCoordinate the delivery of technical documents produced by consultants, reviewing content and providing clear technical commentsSupport the identification, assessment and management of risks associated with highway bridge and structures assetsWork with technical advisers, consultants and wider project teams to ensure effective delivery of structural engineering activitiesJob
Requirements:
Chartered or Incorporated Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer status, or an equivalent level of professional experienceExperience in highway structures management, bridge assessments and structural reviewsStrong knowledge of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges standards, methods of working and the Specification for Highway WorksUnderstanding of Eurocodes and their application to highway structuresRelevant degree or HND in civil engineering, structural engineering or a related disciplineKnowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and associated dutiesStrong technical report writing, communication and document review skillsA full driving licence with no more than three points, as driving is required as part of the roleBenefits:Permanent opportunity within the highways and bridge engineering sectorOpportunity to lead technically significant structural assessments and asset management activitiesProfessional development within a specialist engineering environmentCollaborative working relationships with consultants, technical advisers and project teamsChoice of Birmingham or Nottingham as the primary office locationHybrid working
