Our client has an exciting opportunity to join their team on a full time basis.

We are currently looking to recruit a Trainee / Junior Mechanic for a local company based in Corby.

Hours are Monday to Friday 08.30am till 17.30pm.

Tasks

This job role involves -

* Performing minor diagnostics and troubleshooting.

* Reading car manuals and following manufacturer-specific vehicle checklists.

* Carrying out routine maintenance such as oil changes or battery testing and replacing worn parts.

* Using power tools and equipment to replace or repair damaged components

* Using hand tools to work on bolts and screws to take lorry components apart.

* Observing and learning from senior mechanics to build industry knowledge and skills.

Requirements

Skills required

Trainee mechanics need to be physically able to operate their tools and the necessary machinery, such as welding machines or hydraulic equipment. The working conditions in garages may also be quite challenging as temperatures can be hot or cold, and protective equipment such as safety goggles may need to be worn in certain situations, for example, when welding. Some degree of physical fitness is therefore essential in order to perform the duties of a trainee mechanic on a daily basis.
