Job Profile for Hardware Engineer- RF45454 Position: Hardware Engineer Location: Stevenage Salary: £40,000-£50,000 Our client, based in Stevenage, are a rapidly growing UK-based health tech start-up that's building wearable technology with the power to support people living with neurological conditions. They are looking for a Hardware Engineer to join the team. This is a key role in a small team: they do not currently have a dedicated hardware engineering department, so the successful candidate must be a self-starter who can work with ambiguity, set direction, and communicate effectively across internal stakeholders and external manufacturing partners. The successful candidate will be expected to: Own PCB redesigns and iterative improvements (cost, reliability, manufacturability, power efficiency, component availability). Diagnose and resolve field and production issues (root cause analysis; corrective actions; ECOs). Improve battery life, vibration drive efficiency, robustness, and overall system reliability. Manage obsolescence and supply-chain risks (alternates, second sources, lifecycle planning) Define hardware architecture for next-gen (MCU/SoC selection, power architecture, sensors, comms). Produce schematics, PCB layouts (or direct and review layout output), and engineering documentation. Lead prototype builds and bring-up (debug, test, validation, design iterations). Drive DFM/DFA planning in collaboration with the manufacturing partner. Hardware Engineer Requirements Significant professional experience designing electronics and PCBs for shipped products (ideally wearables, consumer electronics, or medical/wellness devices).Strong schematic capture and PCB design capability, including low-power design techniques.Proven experience taking products from concept ? prototype ?
