Senior Contract Automation Tester

3 Month Contract + extensions | Outside IR35 | Hybrid Manchester (2 days a week onsite) | £450 - £500 per day


Role

We’re seeking a Senior Contract Automation Tester to contribute to the next phase of feature development for our interactive platform.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and execute automated test suites using industry-standard tools, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and effective at identifying defects.
  • Own and maintain a company-wide test strategy, collaborating with teams to implement test plans aligned with shift-left principles.
  • Work with product owners to manage defects, prioritizing and tracking bugs with appropriate manual or automated tests to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure performance, security, and usability standards are met through automated testing, addressing non-functional requirements.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for efficient release processes, coordinating with relevant teams for seamless QA activities.
  • Provide detailed reporting on test progress and outcomes, delivering actionable insights into software quality.
  • Uphold quality assurance best practices to maintain high testing standards.


Essential Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in Agile/Scrum/Kanban development environments with iterative cycles.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Experience with database testing.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and release candidate management using tools like GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Expertise in version control systems.
  • Proficiency in API testing tools (e.g., Postman) and API/Web automation testing, including end-to-end and contract testing.
  • Experience with modern test frameworks such as Cypress.io or Playwright.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools, including Jira.
  • Background in manual testing (e.g., regression and exploratory testing).
  • Preferred experience with performance testing tools (e.g., k9s) and security testing tools (e.g., OWASP ZAP).
