As a proud part of UAB Medicine UAB Callahan Eye is committed to delivering innovation at every level of eye care and critical research that will keep all of us seeing clearly into the future.Job Description:To provide a range of intake and associated administrative services to patients being admitted to the hospital emergency department or receiving outpatient services. To obtain demographics insurance and medical information. To assess the patients financial status and identify a source of payment. To collect deposits or deductibles. To interface with insurers and members of the healthcare team.Key Duties & Responsibilities1. Responsible for all registration activities including but not limited to point of service registration of admitting inpatients outpatient surgery and emergency department patients.2. Assesses the patients financial status identifying a source of payment obtaining sufficient information to permit reimbursement ensuring the information is complete and accurate.3. Obtains sufficient information to permit reimbursement ensuring the information is complete and accurate.4. Explains financial requirements to the patient or responsible party and collects deposits or deductibles as required.5. Accurately completes forms and reports related to registration and disseminates to appropriate departments.6. Performs other duties as assigned.High School diploma or GED required Typing a minimum of 6000 keystrokes per hour. Operate CRT and other office equipment preferred. One year of previous experience in a hospital admitting setting with knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding preferred.
