THE POSITION


An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician at

Shoreham Power Station. You will be involved in all aspects of mechanical maintenance

related activities at the station. The post holder is required to plan, contract, and/or physically carry out mechanical maintenance works at the site, including the preparation of method statements and Risk Assessments, as required.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of tasks within their level of competence. The following will be included:
  • Ensure consistent high levels of housekeeping and safety,
  • Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements particularly the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Environmental Protection Act,
  • Prepare and manage required service and maintenance contracts,
  • Participate in the implementation of the Company Safety Rules as either Competent Person or Authorised Person to ensure that safety from the system is achieved,
  • Proactive and creative approach to fault diagnosis and problem solving,
  • Provide support to ensure maintenance plans and targets for the team are achieved safely, on time, at or below budget, to the correct quality and within the environmental limits of the station,
  • Support and deliver the Process Safety KPI’s associated with areas of responsibility,
  • Develop understanding of the business and Station objectives,
  • Input into developing and managing budgets and costs,
  • Undertake procurement activities within the Company policies and process, including developing technical specifications,
  • Participation in delivery of major and interim inspections and overhauls, managing contracts and contractors in accordance with commercial requirements.
  • Deliver hands-on maintenance activities on mechanical equipment & systems, and
  • Maintain interfaces with suppliers, contractors and other parties.


DESIRED, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE


The following are essential:

  • Experience in the maintenance of CCGT plant or in large-scale process industry,
  • Educated to HNC standard in a mechanical engineering discipline or equivalentqualifications and experience,
  • Computer literacy skills, and
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.


The following are desirable:

  • IOSH Entry Level Qualification to Managing Safely,
  • Demonstration of team working skills, and
  • Knowledge of budgets and contracts.


THE PERSON

  • Focused on achieving results and keen to develop skills,
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including written reports,
  • Ability to support other disciplines with work planning and plant diagnostics,
  • Good organisation and time management skills,
  • An ability to prioritise workload under pressure during plant failures being able to analyse and diagnose problems in a rational and positive manner,
  • Self-motivated with a flexible approach, and able to work with limited supervision,
  • Desire, aptitude, and attitude to learn and develop and share your knowledge and experience with colleagues,
