The role


As a Data Scientist, you will work closely with Engineering, Commercial and Clinical teams to identify opportunities using data to propose solutions for effective decision making.


Key duties:


  • Transforming, shaping and modelling structured and unstructured data to support useful data insights and analytics, using modern data tools.
  • Providing novel solutions to problems, using machine learning tools and statistical techniques.
  • Providing expertise in the creation of algorithms and machine learning models to support clinician use cases and improve clinical outcomes for patients.
  • Exploring and investigating potential sources of data both within the Blatchford “system” of components, as well as 3rd party technology and open-source providers, to build better understanding of patient behaviour and performance.
  • Monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of data sources and data-collection techniques and provide continuous improvement feedback.
  • Designing and iterating potential analytics strategies and methods to better understand behaviours, patterns, and effects from available data.
  • Developing and testing hypotheses on relationships in the data and patient outcomes.
  • Researching and developing prototypes for new algorithms and tools.
  • Developing and supporting tools used in testing, engineering, and servicing scenarios.
  • Implementing version control and change management for algorithms and models.
  • Participating in risk analysis and mitigation strategies for AI/ML components.

What are we looking for?

Key skills


  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or Biomedical Engineering or relate.
  • Previous experience in a Data Science role, preferably in medical devices.
  • Knowledge of relevant scripting languages (Python, R, SQL, MATLAB)
  • Experience with Machine Learning frameworks and libraries e.g. TensforFlow, PyTorch, AzureML
  • Awareness of Agile and Sprint delivery methods.
  • Experience with Analysing and Implementing algorithms for real-time gait analysis using motion capture system and IMU sensors
  • Experience and interest in analysing human performance data e.g. biological, anatomical, physiological, dietary, neurological, etc.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Be enthusiastic and curious about data, staying up to date with the latest data-related technology, techniques, and methods.
