Training and learning across the broad field of Field of Education of Natural Agricultural and Social Sciences.Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis until 12 September 2027.Base salary range: $95231 $100643 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.About the areaCollege Services provides academic administration and technical support services to the Universitys schools including Heads of School academic staff and research students. The team is committed to providing effective and efficient services in support of the Schools and Universitys strategic objectives with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice.Technical Services provides discipline specific applied knowledge and skill sets to support UWAs teaching and research goals in unison with our academic staff. This team of practitioners is focused on high performance outcomes compliance and contributing to a pragmatic safety culture via the implementation of safe systems of work. The team operates across a broad portfolio including teaching fieldwork support laboratory management instrument/equipment stewardship research training/design/optimisation and analysis program coordination and workshop design manufacture and repair.This team underpins training and learning across the broad Field of Education of Natural Agricultural and Social Sciences and may include disciplines such as agricultural environmental soil science animal biology plant biology archaeology geography and the characterisation/analysis of environmental materials including the curation of associated resources. This team supports teaching both on and off campus which may include fieldwork.About the opportunity Provide high-level technical support for academics technical staff and students including planning preparing and setting up materials equipment and protocols for teaching and research activities.Supervise and train staff and students manage technical operations demonstrate and optimise specialist techniques and ensure safe work practices and compliance with safety procedures.Maintain accurate records and equipment oversee procurement and servicing of materials and instruments and perform other duties as required to support research and teaching outcomes.About youRelevant tertiary or technical qualification or equivalent competency.Substantial relevant applied technical analytical and safety knowledge within agriculture and environmental sciences with a preference for experience with soil science analytical applications.Substantial experience working in laboratory and fieldwork settings in the disciplines which should include soil science as well as physical and chemical analysis of environmental samples.Familiar with general protocols for safely using various chemicals and workplace health and safety measures.Demonstrated ability of excellent communication and team working skills and have an inquisitive mind and critical thinking skills.Note: A current C class drivers licence will be required by the successful applicant.
