Job Description

The energy landscape as we know it is rapidly transforming and we are looking for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our EV Charging solutions team to support the delivery of projects for a wide range of our UK and global customers.

You’ll be part of an industry-leading team, learning and sharing ideas with some of the most talented people around. In your role, you will provide design services across the UK for customers wishing to have electric vehicle charging stations installed. As we grow, recruiting the right people is essential and we currently have an opportunity for a designer to join our expanding team.

Role Accountabilities

Surveying: Undertake site surveys to determine the outputs required for the installation of electrical vehicle charging, in line with regulations and ACOP.
Design: Undertaking electrical design throughout all stages of the design lifecycle for all areas of Electric Vehicle charging including working with other renewable technologies (solar and battery power). This includes evaluating a range of data and survey outputs for customer design proposals, parameters and manuals to identify design and application feasibility
Installation Assurance: Ability to visit live sites to ensure all installations meeting the required standards and quality metrics
Subject matter expert: Support wider team with attending client meetings (for pursuits and during delivery)
Adherence to industry standards: Ensuring all designs are formulated in line with industry standards and manufacturer specifications.
Work in collaboration with other design disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Electrical Design Engineer
BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline
Experience in the design of EV charging stations is preferable but not essential, training will be provided.
Proficient in developing electrical designs in Trimble (previously Amtech)
Proficient in developing electrical designs and drawings in AutoCad.
Be knowledgeable and at the forefront of understanding design standards in relation to Electric Vehicle Charging.
Experience in site surveys and ensuring survey outputs are understood, experience in understanding site capacities, site loads etc.
Experience working with DNO's and understanding the connection requirements in relation to distribution and grid code is essential.
Competent to complete DNO applications online in the relevant DNO portals
Competent to complete the Energy Networks Association (ENA) Forms online in the relevant portal.
In depth knowledge of current UK wiring regulations, British Standards, ENA Standards and International Standards where relevant to electrical installations
Ability to work autonomously to achieve deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with a multi-discipline team.
Pro-active attitude to overcome project and delivery related challenges.
Passionate about continuous improvement, process efficiency and collaboration.
