Job Description:

My client is looking for an experienced Bridging Underwriter to join their expanding team based in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial underwriting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Building solid working relationships with brokers, solicitors, and valuers is a key aspect of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwriting new loan applications from initial review to completion, following the company’s lending policies
• Maintaining regular communication with brokers, solicitors, and valuers to ensure excellent service levels
• Continuously assessing risks throughout the lifecycle of each case
• Preparing and presenting credit papers to the credit committee, clearly articulating commercial risks and borrower creditworthiness
• Managing funding requests for cases nearing completion
• Keeping internal teams and stakeholders informed on case progress and pipeline status
• Reviewing and improving policies and processes to maintain the highest standards
• Meeting personal and team-based KPIs
• Prioritising workflow to meet deadlines effectively

Skills and Experience:

• At least 2 years' experience in bridging or specialist finance underwriting
• CeMAP qualification preferred but not required
• Strong ability to interpret and understand trading company accounts
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the finance industry
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment
