Our clients are trade and professional associations, academic societies, charities and other not for profit membership organisations. Do you love making improvements, introducing efficiencies and leading on change and automation of finance processes? We are a professional services firm and we specialise in outsourced accounting support, executive administration, company secretarial duties and event management.  This is role is a hybrid role based between Luton / remote each week.


As well as being hands on in this role, you will also be overseeing a full client portfolio of accounts to provide an excellent accounting service, quality control, data integrity and reporting for our valued membership and Charity clients.


What will I be doing in this role?

  • Oversee the full portfolio of client accounts from a quality assurance and sign off perspective and work with Director to develop consistent way of working across all clients.
  • Provide hands on support where needed in processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank transactions, reconciling VAT and other balance sheet accounts 
  • Lead on change activities to review, streamline and automate finance tasks within the team including processes and systems
  • Make recommendations to improve efficiency, focusing on robust internal controls relating to financial policies and procedures 
  • Lead on regular financial meetings to deliver reports and metrics to Director on timely client reporting activities 
  • Lead on the preparation of financial reports and management accounts for strategic client accounts 
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial records, data and reporting from a variety of finance software systems (Sage / Quickbooks / Xero) 
  • Provide effective leadership in coaching and developing a small team of three in making changes to processes, and understand training requirements as well as identifying individual objectives to build resilience, capability and performance 
  • Pro-actively provide business development support to Head of Sales and the Marketing team in maximising opportunities for networking, referrals and new business development 
  • Respond to internal and external financial inquiries and stakeholders 
  • Liaise with auditors regarding queries, compliance, information requests and preparing support schedules 



What skills and experience should I be able to demonstrate?

  • Fully qualified accountant with professional membership (CIMA / ACCA) and at least 5 years+ PQE
  • Practical and comprehensive experience of accounting software, automation and process improvements, particularly SAGE, QuickBooks or Xero
  • Previous experience of working with a number of clients in a client facing role or managing a portfolio of client accounts
  • Significant people management responsibilities in reviewing performance and developing a team
  • Able to analyse and interpret financial data in order to manage the financial health of the clients and able to analyse data quickly and accurately and present clear reports
  • Demonstrate a depth of knowledge in accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, and tax regulations. 
  • An understanding of the importance of governance, audit and compliance


What would a successful candidate look like?

  • Experience of managing a number of clients performing a broad range of technical accounting activities. Working with charitable / not for profit organisations would be preferable.
  • Able to demonstrate ideas for process improvements, increased efficiency and smarter ways of working across the client base to ensure effective resource utilisation.
  • Focuses on providing an outstanding service to our clients and understand they are our priority.
  • Possesses leadership and people management experience in developing a high performing and engaged team
  • Strong professional ethics, with an ability to manage confidential and sensitive data

Full job spec on request. You must be eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis and be able to regularly travel to the Luton office each week as well as working remotely.
