About the Role As a Ruby on Rails Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the First-generation Vypr platform, ensuring its reliability, performance, and security. You’ll handle day-to-day Keep the Lights On (KTLO) work, system upgrades, and ongoing maintenance, while supporting the transition and eventual decommissioning of the platform as we move fully to Vypr Predict (Our new platform). Once the First-generation system is decommissioned, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to Predict development, working with modern technologies such as Node.js, React, and AI-driven systems. In preparation for this transition, you will be supported and expected to learn these technologies in parallel to handling the day-to-day maintenance of our Ruby based platform. Things that you will do Own and maintain the First-Generation Ruby on Rails based Vypr platform, ensuring stability and performance. Deliver regular maintenance, upgrades, and bug fixes to keep systems secure and reliable. Support the migration and decommissioning of First-Generation platform as Vypr Predict evolves. Troubleshoot production issues, ensuring uptime through proactive monitoring. Collaborate with Predict engineers to ensure smooth data and system transitions. With support, learn Node.js and React technologies in preparation for eventual move to working on our Predict platform. Apply best practices in testing, deployment, and DevSecOps to improve release reliability. What you will be responsible for Keeping First-Generation platform stable, secure, and performant. Reducing risk and technical debt through upgrades and refactoring. Documenting processes and sharing knowledge across the engineering team. What you are good at Strong experience in Ruby on Rails, with strong debugging and optimisation skills. Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, background jobs, caching, and API integrations. Familiarity with Heroku, AWS, CI/CD, and monitoring tools. Passion for learning new technologies like Node.js, React, and AI-driven systems. Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams. Taking ownership of legacy systems while supporting modernisation.
