Take the Lead as a Head of Finance in the Healthcare Sector
Are you a proactive and experienced finance professional ready to shape the future of a growing, impactful business? This Head of Finance role offers the opportunity to lead the finance function in a high-performing healthcare organisation, working closely with senior leadership to drive excellence in financial operations and decision-making.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Financial Leadership
- Oversee the end-to-end finance function, ensuring timely completion of month-end processes, reconciliations, KPI reporting, and variance analysis.
- Manage HMRC submissions and payments, including RTI, PAYE, VAT returns, and quarterly corporation tax instalments.
- Lead and mentor a finance team, many of whom are non-qualified, providing guidance to enhance processes and financial rigour.
Process Improvement & Systems Development
- Leverage a recently implemented accounting platform to improve the quality and robustness of financial reporting.
- Develop cost-centre reporting and enable client/project profitability analysis to support pricing and annual uplift negotiations.
- Identify and implement improvements to transactional processes, enhancing accuracy, audit trails, and control.
Commercial Strategy & Compliance
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
- Contribute to commercial negotiations, tenders, and framework agreements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/FRS 102, maintaining accurate and auditable financial records, and meeting statutory reporting deadlines.
Operational Contributions
- Review and manage supplier contracts, including property leases.
- Play a key role in the transition to group-level banking and other strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial operations with business objectives.
What You Bring:
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience leading a finance function, ideally within the healthcare or a related sector.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to present complex financial data in a structured and actionable format.
- Advanced Excel skills and a working knowledge of accounting platforms.
- Knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS 102 and financial modelling skills are desirable.
- A “hands-on” approach, ready to engage in both strategic and transactional tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
