We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, a creative flair for menu development, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. As Head Chef, you will play a crucial role in shaping the dining experience at Pitlessie Village Inn, ensuring that our guests enjoy delicious and memorable meals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Menu Development: Create and maintain a dynamic menu that reflects the best of Scottish cuisine, incorporating local and seasonal ingredients.
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation, ensuring that dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Provide guidance on cooking techniques, portion control, and kitchen safety.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage costs effectively to ensure profitability without compromising quality.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that the kitchen adheres to all food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular checks to ensure that food quality, taste, and presentation meet the Inn's high standards.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Work closely with front-of-house staff to understand guest preferences and feedback, adapting the menu and service as needed to enhance the dining experience.
  • Budget Management: Manage kitchen budgets, including food costs, labor costs, and other expenses, while maximizing profitability.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-quality restaurant or inn.
  • Strong culinary skills with a deep knowledge of Scottish cuisine and local ingredients.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Creative flair for menu development and food presentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional food and a commitment to guest satisfaction.
