Outreach tutor - Portsmouth
Ackerman Pierce work closely with County Councils and Schools to provide one to one tutoring for children waiting for school placements. The children we are looking to support have a range of additional complex needs and so we are seeking experienced SEN HLTA's/tutors/teachers/LSAs.
We are currently recruiting for a KS2 Tutor to provide provision to a young learner based in Portsmouth. Initally, support will be focusing on mentoring the young boy, with a slow and steady build to focusing on core subjects. This student has previous behavioural issues, so ideally experience working with complex young people is preferrable.
- Location - Portsmouth
- Position - 2:1 Tutor (LSA/TA will also be supporting you)
- Start date - ASAP
- End date - Ongoing.
- Contract type - Temporary
- Hours - 3 hours per day - 5 days per week (Monday - Friday)
- Rate of pay - £30/£35 per hour
- Term Time Only
- During School Hours Only - preference is for morning sessions
We are looking for candidates who are:-
- Available during school hours up to 30 hours per week.
- Experienced in delivering differentiated National Curriculum core subjects.
- Experience teaching young people with a wide range of complex and challenging needs including SEMH/ASC/MLD/SpLD
- Exceptional behaviour management strategies.
- Prepared to work face to face within the community.
Requirements
- Background teaching in English, Maths, Science or SEN classes ranging from KS1-KS5.
- QTS status (or equivalant) or unqualified with two years' experience teaching NC core subjects
- Experience working with SEMH/ASD/EBD/SEMH and associated complex needs.
- 2 years previous experience working within a UK school.
