DescriptionDo you enjoy working with code and data to solve real-world problems Join us to automate statistical processes using code and help build tools that support Scotlands official statistics.We are looking for two Statistical Support Analysts to join the Statistical Promotion and Analysis team in the National Records of Scotland (NRS) on a 12-month Fair and Open fixed term contract (with the possibility of extension). The Statistical Promotion and Analysis team is responsible for driving innovation and improvement in statistical outputs.In this role you will work with team members and other stakeholders to develop and embedReproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) across NRS to help deliver our vision.This role is central to modernising the way we produce official statistics and analytical outputs.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilitiesIdentify opportunities to enhance analytical processes by developing Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) thereby improving efficiency and optimising resource use.Design and develop Reproducible Analytical Pipelines using R and Git.Automate the production of official statistics and analytical reports in line with the Government Statistical Service (GSS) RAP principles.Collaborate with statistical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust automated workflows.Ensure code quality version control and documentation standards are upheld.Contribute to the development of internal RAP standards guidance and training materials.Provide coaching and support to statisticians to develop RAPsQualificationsQualificationsCandidates need to provide evidence ofoneof the following:A minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree or a masters degree or PhD demonstrating how your qualifications contain formal training on statistics or data; OrSufficient experience in a statistics or data related field as well as a minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree or a masters degree or PhD.Please enter your your qualification in the additional text box in the application form.Please note: If you fail to demonstrate how you meet the minimum qualifications as stated above your application will be automatically sifted out.Success ProfileSuccess profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on.Technical / Professional Skills:Strong programming skills in Rfor data analysis and automation of statistical tasks and processes (Ability to use R and R packages to improve efficiency accuracy and reproducibility of statistical tasks and processes)Experience:Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Behaviours:Changing and Improving (Level 3)Developing Self and Others (Level 3)You can find out more about Success Profiles Behaviours here:Behaviour levels - Success profiles: candidate guide - How to applyApply online providing a CV and Supporting Statement (of no more than 1000 words) which provides evidence of how you meet the skills experience and behaviours listed in the Success Profile above.If invited for further assessment this will consist of an interview and presentation.Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools can be used to support your application but all statements and examples provided must be truthful factually accurate and taken directly from your own experience.
