Role: Project Director

We are looking for a Project Director that will manage an entire project team including project engineering managers, project engineers, engineering disciplines, project services, and third parties. Accountable for delivering the Pre-FEED, FEED, or Detailed Design project or part of a major project in accordance with the Contract, within budget and plan, and to agreed corporate and client HSSE and Quality standards. We are seeking high-caliber people for this key Project Director role that have talent, enthusiasm, and drive to influence and be part of our exciting expansion plan.

The UK Engineering group will support a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Low Carbon/Energy Transition (CCUS, Green Hydrogen, Blue Hydrogen, Offshore Wind, Waste to X, Emissions Reduction) as well as responsibly developing traditional international energy projects. Being confidently hands-on particularly as we grow, collaborative (including international workshare and teamworking) and committed to a long-term career within a high-performing and close team are some of the key qualities we are seeking. We operate a hybrid working model with a mix of office and home working. For our team to develop an effective team dynamic within Engineering, we will support candidates with a relocation within the UK.

Your responsibilities:
  1. Typically manages and is responsible for the delivery of Pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design projects, and EPCM projects.
  2. Provides leadership in HSSE and QA/QC.
  3. Approves Project HSSE and QA/QC project plans and monitors effective implementation.
  4. Supports Project and Corporate Quality Audits where necessary in relation to QA/QC and HSSE.
  5. Establishing and adequately resourcing the requirements of the project, including staffing, office facilities, IT infrastructure, and IM strategy.
  6. Regularly reviews the demobilisation plans of the workforce and project progress to minimise cost and overheads wherever possible.
  7. Manages the initial mobilisation of the core project team to ensure that all necessary activities are reviewed with actions appropriately assigned, timescales agreed and relevant parties briefed, with new communication channels established where necessary.
  8. Approves the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and subsidiary coordination procedures for the project.
  9. Ensures effective implementation and supports Project and Corporate Quality Audits where necessary.
  10. Provides leadership for technical reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, value engineering, design integrity, and 3D Model reviews.
  11. Is supported by the Project Engineering Manager, Project Engineers, and Lead Discipline Engineers in these reviews.
  12. Accountable for the entire project budget and contract.
  13. Coordinates all activities for the successful initiation, execution, and close-out of the project within project schedule and contractual requirements.
  14. Oversees all coordination between the business and Clients, Engineering, Sub Contractors, and any other external or internal agency.
  15. Manages project to deliver gross margin.
  16. Manages the establishment of the mechanisms and specific processes and elements for external and internal progress monitoring and reporting against the project plan.
  17. Manages project personnel to ensure progress monitoring is effective and enabling control of the project budget.
  18. Ensures that a change management process is administered and that corrective action is agreed and implemented at the appropriate level, as and when variations from plans occur.
  19. Responsible for all management, commercial, and technical decisions relating to the project.
  20. Consults with Project Sponsor or Project Director on major issues relating to the contract or Company relationship and implements recommendations for resolution.
  21. Supervises the entire project team of typically up to 75+ personnel, including Project personnel, engineers, designers, Project Services, and all third-party contractors.
  22. Duties essentially performed in the Main Office, with the majority of time allocated to supervision, planning, coordination, attending meetings, critical approvals, and maintaining contacts.
  23. Required to travel to other offices, Client offices, and attend site visits as necessary, in accordance with corporate or project requirements.
  24. Our team will be expected to be in the office nominally 3 days a week to help build that positive team culture.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
  1. Masters Degree in Engineering.
  2. Chartered Status preferred.
  3. Significant related project management experience working for Engineering/Client organisations in the Oil and Gas Industry.
  4. Experience of managing FEED and Detailed Design projects.
  5. Excellent understanding of contract terms & conditions.
  6. Knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
  7. Knowledge of standard international specifications and codes.
  8. Thorough knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures.
  9. Excellent knowledge of planning and project controls.
  10. Global work share experience.
