JOB DESCRIPTIONMain purposeDue to the growth of our school we are looking to appoint a Teacher of PE who will have a significant impact on the learning of pupils with additional needs. The role will involve working with all years delivering a variety of high quality lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4 to include GCSE BTEC and Sports leader qualifications.The successful candidate will work in a secure and supportive environment that helps pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties overcome their challenges.The position requires a candidate who can build relationships with children with SEMH difficulties and work in collaboration with colleagues to create an inclusive and supportive environment that is conducive to learning. The teacher and students benefit from small class sizes that help nurture achievement.Duties and responsibilitiesDesign and implement PE lessons that promotes academic progress for all studentsEnsure that the PE curriculum is well-planned sequenced and relevant to the needs of Impact North West Schools studentsMonitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE lessons making adjustments as necessary to improve student outcomesMonitor and assess student progress in PE using data to inform teaching strategies and interventionsIdentify where pupils have learning gaps or are not making the expected progress and make sure interventions target these.Establish positive working relationships among colleagues modelling effective team working and support.Foster a safe inclusive and positive classroom environment using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approachesSet goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds and abilities.Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to address barriers to learning and promote emotional resilienceOrganise enrichment activities to inspire students and foster a love of learningPERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications and trainingGood honours DegreeQTS/QTLS/PGCEEvidence of CPD relevant to this job roleExperienceStrong subject knowledge and understanding of the PE curriculum including current best practices and research.Previous roles teaching SEHM students is desirable.Skills and knowledgeAn ability to be flexible in the subjects that are taught.Excellent teaching and assessment skills with the ability to adapt to the needs of SEMH studentsEffective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues students and familiesData analysis and interpretation skills to use assessment information to inform teaching and learningCommitment to continuous professional development and a willingness to share best practises with colleaguesAbility to foster a safe inclusive and positive learning environment using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approachesStrong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectivelyTo follow our safeguarding policy and ensure all students are safe at all times.Personal qualitiesEnergy and enthusiasmCommitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of children.Commitment to upholding and promoting the ethos and values of the school.Integrity honesty and fairness.Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.Commitment to equality.SAFER RECRUITMENT STATEMENTImpact North West Schools (INWS) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in its school.
