This is an exciting opportunity for a technically excellent, practically minded and corporate focused mid-senior level solicitor to take on a transactional role in a FTSE 100 financial services group.

Core Duties And Responsibilities
  • The Legal Counsel will sit at the corporate centre, to advise on mergers, acquisitions and disposals and joint ventures, including advising on structuring, due diligence findings, reviewing and negotiating transaction documentation and advising relevant teams, executives and boards on transactions.
  • Instruct and manage external counsel.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal teams/functions across the business. Working in partnership with these key teams, including group strategy and finance teams as well key individuals in the asset management, wealth and life businesses.
  • Assist in delivering the wider duties of the legal team including provision of general corporate and finance support to the Group.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Solicitor qualified in England & Wales with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Candidate will ideally have trained and qualified at a top city law firm and gained demonstrable experience either in private practice or in-house as a transaction focussed corporate lawyer.
  • Experience working on large scale, complex corporate transactions, ideally in financial services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to interact with individuals across all levels of seniority.
  • Ability to effectively manage workload, to plan and prioritise accordingly, and to meet tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
