The successful candidate should be routine-oriented methodical thorough compliant cautious sensitive diplomatic self-disciplined amiable and accommodating.RoleResponsibilitiesThis position will be part of the UK & Ireland Airports team responsible for developing local knowledge systems and building siteexpertise. Initially the successful candidate will support operations at Manchester Airport and contribute to bids for other regional airports in the future.The role involves extensive customer and supplier engagement with on-site presenceas needed. Occasional travel to other Vanderlande locations within the UK may also be necessary.Your responsibilities and activities will be:Act as a Mechanical/Layout/Project Engineer with a degree or HND qualification and at least 2 years of experience in automated material handling systems (e.g. baggage parcel warehouse conveyor).Ensure mechanical system designscomply withrelevant safety standards and CDM regulations including performing detailed risk assessments.Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD; experience with Navisworks (Clash Detection) Revit and BIM isadvantageous.Familiar with building interfaces services steelwork and mezzanines.Develop layouts and documentationfor site installation teams.Possess strong equipment knowledge to produceaccuratespecifications.Conduct risk assessments and mitigate project uncertainties through proactive measures.Apply knowledge of machinery safety standards to support operation and maintenance.Work independently or collaboratively taking ownership of design responsibilities.Coordinate designs with customers and other Vanderlande disciplines.Engage in continuous learning of processes and equipment.Willing to travel for site support within the UK and abroad.Confidently present design options to teams customers and consultants.Ensure engineered system designs are manufacturable within budget constraints.Understand and support mechanical activity breakdown and engineering planning.Protect Vanderlandes interests in dealings with customers suppliers and subcontractors.Coordinate third-party equipment supply and integration.Commit to continuous improvement of personal skills processes policies and procedures.RoleQualification and SkillsDegree or equivalent qualification in engineering or a related discipline.Strong understanding of design standards and safety requirements; working knowledge of the Machinery Directive preferred.Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment (electrical mechanical software safety).Structured approach to design and problem-solving with an open mindset.Flexibleregardingworking hours and location.What we offer28 days annual leave (excluding public holidays)Private medical cover through BupaYuLifeWellbeing Membership quick access to GP appointments health and wellness resources plus daily challenges to earnYuCoinsthat can be redeemed for shopping vouchersCareer growth opportunities in a dynamic and challenging work environmentCycle-to-work schemeAviva pension planAchievers Recognition Platform celebrate and reward colleagues with points that can be exchanged for a wide range of products and discountsDiversity & InclusionVanderlande is an equalopportunity/affirmativeaction employer.
