Work types may include Geotech, Drainage, Structures, Buildings, and Permanent Way.Key Responsibilities:- Serve as a primary representative of the estimating team within the company and in client interactions.- Prepare detailed, first-principles estimates.- Conduct benchmarking exercises to inform commercial positions on tenders.- Collaborate with operational, engineering, and commercial staff to produce accurate estimates.- Manage day-to-day tender processes.- Engage subcontractors at the tender stage, including producing enquiries and evaluating supply chain responses.- Assess risks and opportunities on tenders.- Present tender positions to senior management for approval.- Work closely with clients to understand their objectives and maintain a collaborative relationship.The Ideal Candidate:- Typically HNC qualified in construction or with 5+ years of relevant experience.- Excellent attention to detail.- Strong numerical skills and a solid sense of commercial/financial responsibility.- Willing to attend site visits and meetings, including during unsocial hours.- Proficient in IT.- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.- Effective written and verbal communication skills.- Highly organised, with excellent time management and a results-driven approach.- A team player with a willingness to learn and take initiative in personal development
