Managing Consultant -Manufacturing Systems LeadPermanent - On site - Grizedale£65,000 - £75,000Your roleWe are seeking an exceptional Manufacturing Engineering Consultant with system architect level expertise to join our team supporting a critical Aerospace and Defence client in the north of England. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a guiding mind to the client on Model Based Manufacturing methodologies, providing strategic consultancy and implementation expertise across multiple manufacturing domains, with particular experience in Siemens toolsets and PLM solutions.As a trusted advisor to both our team and client executives, you will leverage your comprehensive understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies to design, implement, and optimise integrated manufacturing systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in bridging the gap between engineering design and shop floor execution through digital transformation initiatives.A qualified candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can meet the criteria for at least two of the 6 key components of the role, detailed below:Strategic Consultation: As a trusted advisor, you will consult directly with client executives to develop manufacturing system strategies, conduct comprehensive shop floor gap analyses, and make evidence-based recommendations for system improvements. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions will be essential in guiding strategic decision-making.Solution Architecture: You will evaluate, recommend, and architect appropriate digital solutions based on client requirements, industry best practices, and emerging technologies. This includes developing comprehensive system architecture roadmaps that align with business objectives while ensuring technical feasibility.CAD/CAM Excellence: You will advise on, architect and implement sophisticated CAD/CAM solutions with a specific focus on NX toolsets, enabling seamless digital thread continuity from design to manufacturing. Your deep understanding will ensure optimal manufacturing outcomes while maintaining design intent integrity.Process Planning Architecture: Drawing on your extensive knowledge of Computer Aided Process Planning methodologies, you will design and implement robust BOM and Manufacturing Process planning structures within PLM Teamcenter and SAP environments. This includes developing complex data models that support manufacturing operations while maintaining alignment with engineering design data.Manufacturing Execution Systems: You will lead the conceptualisation and implementation of Manufacturing Execution Systems that effectively deliver prescribed digital 3D model-rich method information to the shop floor. Your solutions will enable efficient execution, comprehensive data collection, and closed-loop feedback mechanisms that drive continuous improvement.Shop Floor Digital Infrastructure: Your expertise will be crucial in assessing, designing, and implementing the IT/OT infrastructure and machine tool connectivity solutions required for a fully integrated digital manufacturing environment. This includes ensuring non-MES enabled digital systems on the shop floor are properly developed to consume Model Based Manufacturing definition and support operations (for example CMM inspection capability)Your profileThe ideal candidate will bring a rare combination of deep technical expertise and strategic vision, with:Demonstrable consultancy experience to be able to help the client to identify, articulate and solve key strategic problems.Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with the ability to provide innovative manufacturing solutions at an enterprise scale while managing technical riskExtensive experience (10+ years minimum) in manufacturing engineering with demonstrated system architect level expertise in Model Based Manufacturing methodologies and implementation.Mastery of NX CAD/CAM software, including advanced functionality for complex manufacturing operations and the ability to architect comprehensive CAD/CAM solutions for enterprise deployment.Knowledge of PLM Teamcenter architecture for manufacturing process planning.Expertise in Computer Aided Process Planning and BOM management at an enterprise level, including data structure design, process flow optimization, and system integration.Understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems architecture, implementation strategies, and integration methodologies across diverse manufacturing environments.Proven ability to architect and implement shop-floor IT/OT infrastructure and machine tool connectivity solutions that enable digital manufacturing operations.Deep understanding of Aerospace and Defence (or adjacent) industry manufacturing requirements, compliance considerations, and security protocols.Executive-level communication skills with demonstrated ability to present complex technical recommendations to client leadership and influence strategic decision-making.Extensive experience conducting manufacturing systems gap analysis, developing strategic improvement plans, and leading implementation initiatives.Proven track record in evaluating, selecting, and implementing manufacturing software solutions that deliver measurable business value.This is a hybrid role, with travel expected between client and Capgemini sites as well as home working. Candidates must be Sole UK Nationals and either hold or be able to obtain MOD SC clearance.
