Water Treatment Technician

We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to join our client's team to ensure the delivery of compliant water and environmental service management in line with contract deliverables and KPIs.


Main Duties:

  • Maintenance and Upkeep: Maintain and upkeep environmental water systems and equipment, strictly adhering to procedures, method statements, and work instructions.
  • Compliance Assessment: Conduct surveys and assessments of all building water services to ensure compliance with HSC L8 ACOP and HSG 274 Parts 1, 2 & 3 guidance and Water Fittings Regulations.
  • Fault Diagnosis: Diagnose and assess faults in water treatment equipment, including softeners and dosing pumps.
  • Cleaning and Disinfection: Perform cleaning and disinfection of high-risk systems such as cooling towers and water tanks as required.
  • Operation and Testing: Operate and test water in cooling systems (including cooling towers), closed systems, and water treatment plants.
  • Standards and Regulations: Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant standards and regulations.
  • Contractor Liaison: Liaise with contractors regarding water and environmental system issues and management.
  • Logbook Updates: Update the site water and environmental logbooks daily.
  • Support Contracted Work: Ensure contracted work (e.g., cleaning sumps, interceptors) is carried out per agreed method statements or work instructions and permits to work (PTW) when required.
  • Fault Reconciliation: Reconcile faults and defects, ensuring an audit trail is in place for action follow-up.
  • Training Compliance: Stay current with mandatory training requirements.
  • IT Proficiency: Maintain proficiency in all relevant IT packages and systems, including Office 365.
  • Client Relationship: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients and end users.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Implement an effective feedback mechanism to monitor and address client feedback.
  • Operational Excellence: Design processes to ensure operational excellence, reducing waste and increasing value.
  • Communication Plan: Ensure an effective communication plan is in place and manage stakeholder engagement proactively.
  • Contract Deliverables: Fulfill all contract deliverables.
  • PPM Work Orders: Complete all PPM work orders on time in line with site KPI requirements.


Personal Competency:

  • Confined Space CP: Desirable but not essential.
  • City and Guilds Certification: Understanding legislation, including cooling towers (legionnaires' disease) - achieved or in progress.
  • Water Fittings Regulations: Holding or working towards a Certificate in Water Fittings Regulations, particularly back flow (SPEC Course).
  • Company Values: Uphold company values.
  • Motivation and Independence: Highly motivated and capable of working independently, making quick decisions, and performing manual physical activities.
  • Teamwork: Able to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and make evidence-based decisions.
  • IT Literacy: Proficient in Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Vision. Experience with Smart sheets is advantageous.
  • Flexibility: Flexible approach to working hours, with occasional out-of-hours work required.
