This strategic appointment is vital to maintaining the safety, efficiency, and modernisation of urban traffic systems. The role offers a unique opportunity for an accomplished technician to lead critical network operations, contribute to major infrastructure projects, and work autonomously within a busy highways management team. This position is ideal for candidates prepared to bring proven hands-on experience to a prestigious and impactful public-sector environment.Key Responsibilities Maintain, repair, and fault-find traffic signal equipment across an extensive urban network to ensure optimal performance and safety. Install and programme traffic signal controllers, hardware, and associated equipment aligned with local junction layouts and signal strategies. Conduct routine inspections and technical assessments to preempt operational issues. Collaborate with urban planning and traffic management teams to support ongoing network upgrades and enhancements. Work independently on-site, diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently with minimal supervision. Document maintenance activities and update technical records accurately. Liaise with local authorities and contractors to coordinate works and ensure compliance with safety standards.Essential Skills & Experience Proven hands-on experience with traffic signal maintenance, fault-finding, installation, and programming. Prior experience working within local authority or regional contractors involved in urban traffic systems. Knowledge of local junction configurations, signal control strategies, and city traffic legislation. Ability to operate independently in a complex, busy network environment. Strong technical skills with traffic signal controllers, hardware, and associated electrical systems. Demonstrable commitment to safety and quality standards within public infrastructure.Desirable Skills & Experience Familiarity with traffic management software and control systems. Certifications in electrical or traffic signal systems. Experience working within a team on large-scale highway projects. Knowledge of emerging traffic technology trends or adaptive signal control systems.
