We’re looking for an ambitious and hands-on Senior Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join our forward-looking finance team. This is a key role in our business, responsible for managing finance operations that form the foundation for data-driven decision-making. You’ll be leading a small team (2-3 direct reports) while rolling up your sleeves to solve problems and optimize processes. Our rapid growth has created a significant opportunity for someone who’s ready to make a difference by building strong finance foundations and driving operational improvements.

Work closely with cross-functional teams, offering expertise on a wide range of finance operations, from budgeting to forecasting and everything in between.

Location: Reading, hybrid with 3 days a week in the office (full time, permanent role)

This role is perfect for someone who’s excited about joining a fast-paced, technology-driven finance team. You’re not afraid of a challenge and are passionate about using your experience to solve problems and build sustainable processes. You’re detail-oriented and love diving into the financial nuts and bolts but also enjoy thinking strategically and working across the breadth of finance operations. If you’ve worked in an SME, particularly a SaaS business, that’s a big plus

Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with a strong technical background.
  • Previous experience in an SME environment, ideally in a SaaS or tech-driven business.
  • Proficient with Xero, Calxa, ApprovalMax, Dext, and Salesforce.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for leveraging technology to streamline operations.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented leader who cares about their team’s growth and success.
  • Proven ability to work hands-on across all areas of finance operations, with a focus on delivering business insights.
  • Excited about automating finance processes and minimizing the use of Excel.
  • Oversee and optimize finance operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and control.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 2-3 finance professionals, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Champion the use of technology to automate processes—eliminating reliance on spreadsheets and manual tasks.
  • Solve complex financial challenges as they arise, ensuring the back office catches up with the pace of business growth.
  • Provide actionable insights and support business decision-making with timely financial data.
