Commissioning Technician / Engineer – Power Engineering

Commissioning / Power Engineering / Switchgear / HV / MV / LV 

The company

Independent power engineering firm based in Greater Manchester. Proven track record of delivering HV / MV / LV Switchgear projects on time and within budget.

The role

As Commissioning Technician you will work closely with the Management Team to maintain the smooth running of all projects involving all aspects of the position include the following, but not excluding activities not listed below:

o Management of all Site activities.

o Assisting Commissioning Engineers with the duties;

o All Testing, Commissioning, Maintenance and Installation activities both on site project specific / location regardless of site location and project duration;

o Completion of test / commissioning documentation;

o Organisation and control of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and associated Health and Safety documentation;

o Organisation of site equipment /tools are fit for purpose and in calibration and tested to complete specific job requirements;

o General site work Management Health and Safety;

o Ensuring that the working environment is clean, tidy and safe for access & egress;

o Control of site time scales to meet contract deadlines;

o Reporting to management on a daily basis for all GCS site activities as required;

o General site labour management;

o Ensure compliance with the health & safety and environmental policies of GCS and its customers;

o Customer liaison

The requirements

You should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a Commissioning Technician or related role. Power Engineering / HV/LV / Switchgear experience is essential and your focus should be developing a career within Commissioning Engineering. You should possess HNC/ONC Engineering Certificate or similar qualification or valid experience, including a good understanding of electrical distribution systems (415V and above) and proven knowledge of Switchgear and Control. Enthusiastic and motivated, you will have good organisation and communication skills, with the ability to work within a team or alone. Experienced with Microsoft Office applications, you will hold a full valid UK driving licence and be prepared to travel throughout the UK, and from time to time, abroad.
