An exciting opportunity for a bright and confident Marketing & Customer Service Assistant has arisen at The Spectator. Based in our lovely offices overlooking St James’s Park, you will be part of our close-knit marketing team. With a naturally cheerful and outgoing personality, you will be confident, proactive, and able to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks.

This is a fantastic and varied role which would equally suit a recent graduate or school leaver, or someone with a proven experience in an office-based environment.

You will work across both The Spectator and its sister publications’ The Spectator Australia and Apollo magazine, and be responsible for a variety of customer service and admin related tasks including:


Customer service:

  • Act as a point of contact for our outsourced customer service agency.
  • Assist with customer service escalations coming into the office.
  • Carry out weekly and ad hoc reporting on customer service and other subscription reporting.
  • Handle customer related enquiries coming through over social media.


Subscription marketing:

  • Assist with the setup of new offers and campaigns.
  • Manage the internal promotions schedule, as well as execution of certain marketing elements.
  • Help with the organisation of selected events.
  • Assist with 3rd party marketing activity on ad hoc basis.


The Spectator shop:

  • Monitor stock levels at our fulfilment warehouse and flag shortages/issues.
  • Ensure dispatch of magazines and products runs smoothly.
  • Help to source new gifts/shop items when needed.


General office admin:

  • Assist with setting up marketing promotions.
  • Ad hoc subs/marketing related tasks.
  • General office admin where needed.


Key Skills and Knowledge:


  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Capable of managing and prioritising workload.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a multi tasked and fast paced environment, both on your own and as part of a team.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to work with high level of attention to detail and numeracy; a passion for excellence.
  • A keen interest in politics and current affairs would be an advantage.
  • Excellent skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
